About
This community has been created to not only bond X-Philes together, but to enable sharing of various medias whether they consist of graphics (userpics/avatars, headers, "friends-only" banners, fan art, etc.), screencaps, complete episodes (direct downloads as well as torrent links), video clips, music videos, news (articles), or magazine scans.

Before you go about posting, however, please go over the guidelines and keep up to date on any <http://community.livejournal.com/xfiles_media/tag/mod+post">posts posted by the moderator(s)</a>. Organization on this type of community is a key element to its smooth running, so take the guidlines and rules seriously! It works, trust me. Check out svu_media and you'll see what I mean.

Also, we here at xfiles_media all about give and take. Please contribute to the community - don't just come in and leech everything in sight. On the flip side, don't feel compelled to give and give and not take. In order to maintain a healthy balance, equal amounts of giving and taking are expected.

Guidelines
There are 3 types of posts allowed:
1. Request Posts
When posting a request post, posts should be formatted as follows:

Subject line: Please include the word "Request" followed by the media type you require (followed by an episode title and number if appropriate). For example: "Request: Screencaps 6.03 Triangle". Posts without a subject line will be deleted.

Entry box: Try to be concise! If your post relates to an episode but you're unsure of its title, check a source such as TV.com first (be careful of some sources though, as some have been known to get episode order wrong for some reason). If you're still unsure, post anyway but please edit your post once other community members have clued you in.

+ Please check the memories (and the latest 20 entries at the community home page) before posting a request. It may already have been fulfilled.
+ Commenting and crediting to those who fulfill your request is nearly always essential. Please abide by LJ and "netiquette." Although that should go without saying.
+ Hotlinkers will be banned. You have been warned!

2. Share Posts
When posting a share post, please follow the specified posting format!

Subject line: Please include the word "Share" followed by the type of media you are posting (followed by an episode title and number where appropriate). For example: "Share: Screencaps 6.03 Triangle". Posts without a subject line will be deleted.

Entry box: When sharing graphics, please include your resources or a link to your resources page. Posting a link to a graphics post at your own journal is acceptable, although it is preferable if the teasers contain only X-Files graphics.

LJ-Cut:
Please lj-cut:
+ graphics larger than 250 x 250 px
+ the 4th and subsequent icons from a multiple icon post
+ Advertisements for other LJ communities.
+ If your post has already been cross-posted to more than two communities (not including your own journal).

3. Fufilled Request Posts
When posting a fufilled request post, they should be formatted as follows:

Subject line: Please include the phrase "Fulfilled Request" followed by the media type you are posting (followed by an episode title and number if appropriate). For example: "Fulfilled Request: Screencaps 6.03 Triangle". Posts without a subject line will be deleted.

Entry box: Link back to the posted request that you are fulfilling. It might also be a good idea to comment to the original request with a link to your fulfillment post.

+ You may fulfill requests either by posting a separate entry to the community or by commenting to the original request - it's up to you.

Before Posting...
Check the following:

+ Check the memories before making a request. Duplicate requests will be deleted. In addition to checking the memories, please check the latest 20 entries at the community home page before posting your request.
+ Please add the appropriate tags to your post to keep the place organized.
+ Title your post "Share:", "Request:" or "Fulfilled Request:" followed by the media type. Include an episode title and number if appropriate.
+ Link to or post your resources (eg, brushes, templates, textures, screencaps, etc) when sharing graphics.
+ When fulfilling a request, please link back to the original request.
+ Try and keep posts short, sweet, and to the point.
+ Each community member may only request one complete episode per week.
+ Friends lock all posts relating to complete episodes. This is very important as it will keep the community from getting axed by the Powers-That-Be.
+ Each request should be posted to the community as a new/separate entry.
+ Technical questions should be posted here.
+ Questions/suggestions regarding the community should be posted here.

Posts not following these rules will be deleted.
